Hans Kassier BMus LRSM is a qualified violin and viola teacher and a performer with years of professional experience in symphony orchestras, opera orchestras and chamber music ensembles. He graduated from Rhodes University and studied violin with Eva Tomschke-Ježková.

Hans' pupils take music exams up to Grade 8 and Diploma level and have featured in the National Children’s Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Some have gone on to study at universities and music colleges while others just have fun playing and participating in local orchestras. Solo experience is provided at an annual informal concert.

As a performer Hans has been violinist and principal viola with the Cape Town Opera Orchestra as well as playing in the Nürnberger Sinfoniker and many other orchestras and chamber music ensembles. He has performed under famous conductors like Kurt Eichhorn and Eliahu Inbal, and with soloists such as Wilhelm Kempf, Arthur Grumiaux, John Ogden and Evelyn Glennie. He has continued playing during his time as a teacher and currently performs with three music societies in Truro Cathedral.

For a number of years Hans has also conducted his own pupils in a Baroque String Orchestra in Saltash and Plymouth and taken them on a youth music exchange to Germany. He believes that the violin can be fun to learn even when taught with the correct technique!
